Nursery sessions
The nursery is open weekdays 0800-1800 apart from bank holidays and Research Council privilege days. Parents and carers are requested to arrive to pick up their children by 1745 so that staff have an opportunity to discuss your child's day with you before the nursery closes.

*Discount applies for full day only to the oldest sibling of another child in the nursery or holiday club but excludes those already in receipt of a nursery sibling discount.
Funding Options
At North Star Nursery we understand that Childcare can be a large portion of your outgoings and therefore we aim to help you understand the different options of available support for parents with childcare costs. Make the most of your funding
The 15 or 30 hours of funding is delivered over 38 weeks of the year, claiming maximum of 10 hours a day. At North Star Nursery we want families to take full advantage of their entitlement and so we offer Stretched funding which is available over 49 weeks per year, this reduces the amount of hours per week from 30 hours to 23.16 hours, claiming a maximum of 9.45 hours per day. The eligibility criteria for Working Parents are available on the Government website. All you need to do is check your eligibility here and provide an eligibility code to the setting. This code will then need renewing every 3 months. These codes apply to the term after your child reaches the correct age, the deadline to receive your code for the following term is 31st December, 31st March and 31st August, here is a list of terms and age specifications to help you find the best timings for your funding claim. We encourage all families looking to take up funded spaces to enquire as soon as possible as specific sessions may fill up faster than anticipated, see below our Allocation Process or you can see our Allocations Policy.
Allocating nursery places
We operate on a first come first served basis, subject to the following terms and priorities:
- the child has a sibling or siblings already in North Star Nursery
- the client is a UKRI* or Nursery employee
- intended start date of care required
- the client is an immediate family relative (parent, child or sibling) of a UKRI or Nursery employee
- quantity of sessions required (children requiring the highest number of sessions will be given priority)
- best match to available sessions following discussions with client
- date of initial enquiry
- payment of a non-refundable deposit to secure a nursery place

Booking a Holiday Club place
Holiday Club is open from 0830-1730 during school holidays and must be booked in advance.
It is advisable to book well in advance as popular days fill up quickly. For younger primary school children, it may also be possible to provide ad-hoc childcare on teacher training days in consultation with the Nursery Manager. All bookings must be made by calling us on 01793 411994 or e-mail us at info@northstarnursery.co.uk.

To qualify for a space, full payment must be made within 5 working days from the date the booking is made. Invoices/receipts will be sent out at least ten working days before the club opens.
Payments should be made to North Star Nursery Ltd, childcare vouchers and bank transfers are accepted along with cash. We do operate a waiting list, so should a space be cancelled we may be able to offer it to someone else; please ask if you wish to be included on this and for what days.
Please note, fees may be subject to change according to the needs of the business and external circumstances. Any changes or cancellations will be charged in full if not received at least ten working days (two weeks) before the club opens and refunds may not be guaranteed should it not be possible to resell spaces booked.
*UKRI employees (including Research Councils, UK SBS, Innovate UK and the UK Space Agency) benefit from a discounted rate to those advertised above. Please contact the Nursery for more information.
**Flexibility must be identified when placing the booking. Please choose from:
- Holiday Club short day option 1: 8.30am - 2.30pm;
- Holiday Club short day option 2: 9am - 3pm;
- Holiday Club short day option 3: 10am-4pm.
